Goal 5: Get information, Join Your Community and Be Heard

We want to help you be an active part of your community and make sure your voice is heard. Your Social Worker or Personal Advisor will help you to:

  • Know Your Rights: They will go through Enfield’s Local Offer with you and show you how to use the Care Leavers online portal to know your rights and what you can get.
  • Access Your Records: They will help you see your records and make sense of them if you ask for it.
  • Get Important Documents: They will help you get important documents like your passport, National Insurance Number (NINO) and birth certificate (if you were born in the UK). This will help you sign up to vote in elections.
  • Access other Important Forms: like your Care Plan, Health Passport, Pathway Plan or your Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Share Your Thoughts: They will listen to you and give you chances to share your thoughts on the support you get and how you want Enfield’s Care Leavers Team to be.
  • Make a Complaint: They will tell you how to make a complaint, suggest improvements and get independent help.
  • Interview Panels: If you want, you can join interview panels to help choose new staff members.
  • Join Groups: You can join the Care Leavers Forum or other support groups for specific young people (like LGBTQ+, young parents, or asylum-seekers) at the Care Leavers Hub.
  • Celebrate You: We will celebrate your uniqueness and achievements every year. Since 2019, we have an annual event during National Care Leaver’s Week at the end of October.
  • Events and Activities: You can explore other events and activities with our Participation Officer for Care Leavers.
  • Youth Development Service: You can join Enfield’s Youth Development Service to build your skills, confidence, and have a voice in your community.
