Care Leavers Forum
The Enfield Care Leavers Forum is a group of Care Experienced young people aged 18 to 25 years. The forum is supported by a dedicated Engagement and Participation Officer who is part of the Enfield Care Leavers Service.
The aim of the group is to improve services for care leavers in Enfield and to help make the difficult transition from care to independence a better experience for all young people
Members:
- Meet face-to-face monthly as well as scheduled Teams meetings.
- Make positive changes in how we work with young people in the Care Leavers Service
- Attend Pan London and National Care Leavers Forums events and meetings and contribute to the ongoing dialogue around corporate parenting both locally and nationally.
- Build new friendships
- Take part in positive and fun activities.
- Take part in consultations with other departments across Enfield to provide their views and opinions to improve service delivery
- Mentoring and Leadership training
- Assist in the recruitment and training of new social workers and foster carers
- Training foster carers
- As a group will decide on roles and responsibilities which can rotate after a few months to allow others to gain experience.
- Provide individuals with a platform to have a say about the things that really matter to them and to give input on services and support being offered to help make improvement, so you feel safe and supported
What will you gain from your involvement?
You will have the opportunity to hear from and influence directly the professionals involved in your care, which is hugely impactful!
Whist helping others, you will be developing your experience, skills, knowledge and self-confidence which could help you gain employment, a place at college, university, or an apprenticeship.
You will have the opportunity to make friends and have fun.
