Goal 7: Keeping Safe

Your safety and wellbeing are important to us. We want you to feel safe at home, in your relationships, in your community, online and wherever life takes you. Your Social Worker or Personal Adviser will help you understand risks, make safe choices and get the support you need if you are worried about your safety or the safety of someone else.

Here are some ways we can help:

  • Know How to Stay Safe: We will help you understand potential risks to your safety and wellbeing and support you to make informed decisions that keep you safe and independent.
  • Trusted Support: We will make sure you know who you can speak to if you feel unsafe, are worried about someone else or need help and advice.
  • Feeling Safe and Supported: If you are feeling isolated, anxious, worried, threatened, vulnerable, or struggling with your emotional wellbeing, we will help you access the support you need. This may include emotional wellbeing services, mental health support, counselling, peer support and other services that can help you feel safe, supported and connected. We will listen to your concerns and work with you to identify the right support for your needs.
  • Safe Relationships: We will help you recognise healthy, respectful relationships and understand the signs of unhealthy, controlling, or abusive behaviour.
  • Intimate Partner Abuse/Domestic Abuse Support: If you are experiencing of affected by domestic abuse (also called intimate partner abuse if you are under 18), we will support you to access specialist advice, safety planning, advocacy, and support services.
  • Victim Support: If you have experienced crime, abuse, exploitation, violence, harassment or domestic abuse, we can help you access specialist support services, advocacy and emotional support to help you recover and feel safe.
  • Exploitation and Grooming: We will help you understand the risks of criminal exploitation, county lines activity, modern slavery, trafficking, sexual exploitation, and online grooming, and support you to stay safe from harm.
  • Online Safety: We will help you stay safe online by providing information about social media, online relationships, scams, cybercrime, privacy settings and protecting your personal information.
  • Violence Reduction and Community Safety: If you are affected by serious youth violence, gangs, or anti-social behaviour, we will help you access specialist services, mentoring, and community support.
  • Safe Accommodation: We will work with housing providers and partner agencies to help you stay safe in your accommodation and address concerns such as harassment, anti-social behaviour, or risks to your tenancy.
  • Missing From Home or Care: If you go missing or are at risk of going missing, we will work with you to understand what has happened, reduce risks and ensure you receive the support you need.
  • Emergency Help: We will make sure you know how to access emergency services and urgent support when you need it, including out-of-hours services.
  • Safety Planning: If there are concerns about your safety, we will work with you and relevant professionals to create a plan that helps keep you safe while respecting your wishes and promoting your independence.
  • Your Voice Matters: We will listen to your concerns about safety, take them seriously, and involve you in decisions about the support and protection you need.
